As the temperatures cool down and we’re able to enjoy more of the outdoors in Georgia without sitting under the scorching sun, we’re gearing up for another incredible hiking season. However, for those of you who took some time off from hiking this summer, perhaps hitting that Benton MacKaye Trail is not the best idea just yet. So instead, take a look at these 10 amazing hikes in Georgia under 3 miles that’ll start prepping you for another awesome hiking season.

At just under 2 miles, the Desoto Falls Trail is a highly coveted trail in Blairsville, Georgia. You can hit this out-and-back trail in an hour or so, plus you’ll be able to get the beauty of a waterfall while you’re at it.

Minnehaha Falls can be found along the shores of Lake Rabun in a short, less than a half mile hike. Many consider this waterfall to be one of the best in the state. Visitors can head to the unpaved Bear Gap Road and find the trailhead marked by a green diamond.

In the early 1800s, the High Falls area was a prosperous industrial town. Now, nature enthusiasts can come to hike the High Falls Trail, clocking in at 1.6 miles. There is a lot to see along the way, and a ton of history to enjoy as well.

This trail comes in at under 0.5 miles which means that for just a short jaunt, you’ll be be able to see quite a beautiful landscape. Beginners will definitely be able to hike this trail, and the waterfall at the end will be a worthwhile reward.

This isn’t your average hiking trail, yet this State Park will give you tons of opportunities to hit a few paths and follow along the granite outcroppings for some true Georgia beauty.

For this 3-miler, you’ll take the red trail until it splits off by the creek. Take the Red Spur Trail until you reach the trailhead for the Yellow Trail. Wooden footbridges, slight elevation changes, and a whole lot of nature to fill your day.

At around 2 miles roundtrip, this trail will take you through some beautiful forested areas, plus pave the way for some stunning waterfalls, too. Being so close to Moccasin Creek State Park will certainly provide unique creeks and waterways for all to enjoy.

Waterfalls galore, beautiful greenery and peace and quiet in this two mile trek. There isn’t more that you could ask for spending a day in the middle of Chattahoochee National Forest.

This mountain top trail clocks in at under 1.5 miles and is filled with incredible views and natural slices of wonderment. With large, exposed granite outcroppings, this trail is short and sweet, but oh-so-magical.
